Spotlight
Debbie Silberberg, ART
I believe in second chances. My artwork is rooted in giving new life to the treasures I unearth in my backyard—discarded pieces of glass, metal, plastic, rock, and wood that seems forgotten. Through my work, shards of glass become moons, broken pottery is reimagined as plates, and car parts transform into flowers, each piece telling a renewed story. My work is further enriched by combining needlepoint techniques passed down to me by my grandmother. My work often has a sense of whimsy; prompting viewers to smile and igniting their sense of imagination.
I enjoy supporting other artists; currently serving on the Rockland County Art in Public Places Committee, on the Multidisciplinary Residency Panel at the Bethany Arts Community, as a co-coordinator for the Bluefield Artist Festival, and as a guest curator for the Rockefeller Gallery and Montclair Studios. My previous experience includes serving on the board of the Nyack Art Collective.
