Maryann Boyle Murray
Born a writer, Maryann B. Murray’s first work appeared during her pre-school years, published in a juicy red marker on the hallway wall outside her bedroom door. Deprived of the critical acclaim she’d expected, Maryann took her fiction writing underground, filling marbled copybooks and yellow legal pads with tales of ongoing adventures through time and space. She survived the ensuing decades pouring her love and passion for words into her career as a journalist:
- Bayonne (NJ) Community News
- Greenwich (CT) Time
- Boston Globe
a marketing consultant:
- Marketing Support Services, Riverside, CT
- MBM Development Communications, Boston, MA
in non-profit development communications:
- Children’s Hospital Boston
- Tufts University
and volunteering:
- Global Smile Foundation
- Ignatian Volunteer Corp
Today, unable to find reason or distraction to prevent her, Maryann has returned to her seemingly doomed fiction-writing career and is thrilled to release the characters she’s created into the world and to finally share their adventures. In 2023, she published her debut novel, Coda, a historical mystery proving “it’s never too late to be what you might have been” – even for an American woman in 1890 Montpellier, France. She claims to be nearing the finish line on her second novel, Fermata, for 2026.
Understanding writers need to build a strong community, Maryann is proud to be a member of:
- Maine Writers and Publishers Alliance
- Sisters in Crime
- Greenwich Pen Women
Maryann and her husband, Lee, live in Ocean Park, Maine, and Old Greenwich, Conn.
